Abans Hithawathkama Project Improves Patients Comfort with Television Donations to Hospital Dialysis Units

5 May 2024

Abans Group, a significant conglomerate in Sri Lanka, is reaffirming its commitment to improving communities with its Abans Hithawathkama Project. Presently, the initiative is aimed at enhancing the arduous treatment journey of Chronic Kidney Disease patients undergoing dialysis in government hospitals by providing televisions to dialysis units across the island.
Recognising the significance of patient comfort during challenging treatments, Abans has committed to donating televisions to dialysis units in over 40 hospitals nationwide. This philanthropic endeavour, spearheaded by Abans, aims to improve the patients challenging treatment process and create a more positive environment during their medical care journey.
The project is carried out in memory of late Mr. Behman Pestonjee (Tito) – former Managing Director of the Abans Group. Substantial contributions to several hospitals in Sri Lanka have already been made and notable beneficiaries include Gampaha Hospital, Mulleriyawa Hospital, Homagama Base Hospital, Apesksha Hospital Maharagama, and the Teaching Hospital Karapitiya. These initial donations mark the first phase of the project, with completion scheduled by the first week of May.
Abans’ commitment to health and wellness extends beyond this project, encompassing a comprehensive CSR strategy.
The company has previously invested significantly in healthcare infrastructure, providing essential equipment and supplies to hospitals and clinics throughout the country.
Aban Pestonjee, Group Chairperson of Abans, emphasised the company’s ethos of giving back to the community and fostering a positive impact. “At Abans, we recognise the importance of creating a ‘Better Way to Life’ for our people, aligning with our vision,” stated Pestonjee. “Through our CSR initiatives, we strive to contribute to a better Sri Lanka and uphold our responsibility as a conscientious corporate citizen.”
Abans’ ongoing efforts underscore the transformative potential of corporate social responsibility in improving healthcare outcomes and fostering a brighter future for communities across Sri Lanka.
